The centre-back is returning to Stamford Bridge this summer in order to try and impress Antonio Conte after making 81 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit.
However, he faces stiff competition to work his way into the Chelsea side as he will come up against the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Kurt Zouma, while Conte is actively trying to bring in another centre-back and is closing in on a deal for Roma’s Antonio Rudiger.
Chelsea supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, and they believe that the club would be mad to sell the young star before giving him a chance, while others say he is worth £60m if the Premier League champions are happy for him to go.
