da betway: As reported by The Mirror, Chelsea are set to join the race for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, battling Manchester United to make the transfer.
What’s the word?
da bwin: The Mirror say that Lindelof has become Antonio Conte’s main target after hearing excellent reports of his ability from his scouting staff.
The 22-year old is also wanted by Jose Mourinho and that could spark a bidding war for a player said to be worth around £38m according to the paper. They also say Manchester United have been pursuing his signature for a while but that cash-strapped Benfica are holding out so they can maximise his fee.
Will either club move this January in order to steal a march on their rivals and secure the signature of one of Europe’s brightest young defensive talents?
Worth the fuss?
In Lindelof, potential clubs would be buying a defender that could easily end up giving them the next 10 years of his career.
He burst into the Benfica first-team last year and hasn’t looked back since, making over 50 appearances for the Portuguese giants. He’s been in exceptional form for his club this term, helping them to a massive 13 clean sheets in all competitions already.
It’s that kind of defensive steel that is attracting the reported interest of the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United this January.
The fact both clubs are willing to go head-to-head for his signature is no surprise.
