da supremo: Bolton Wanderers have confirmed the appointment of Dougie Freedman as their new manager.
da premier bet: Freedman left Crystal Palace on Tuesday and the London club indicated that he was heading to Bolton on their official website.
Bolton quickly followed suit and today confirmed that Freedman will be the man to replace Owen Coyle, who was sacked at the beginning of October.
Bolton chairman Phil Gartside told their official website: “Dougie is young and ambitious. When we met, his enthusiasm and knowledge of the game was evident.
“He has a real drive and passion, and knows what we want to achieve and how we want to go about it. I am looking forward to working with Dougie to secure that.”
Dougie Freedman told the website: “I am delighted to join Bolton.
“The club is geared up to getting back into the Premier League. There is an impressive setup and structure in place, and a first team squad of undoubted quality.
“I am excited about the challenge ahead of us.”
Freedman had been in charge of Crystal Palace for 21 months and had lead them to fourth place in the Championship so far this season, before making the switch to the Reebok Stadium.
The Scotsman recently won the Championship Manager of the Month award for September and is now faced with the challenge of getting Bolton Wanderers back up in to the Premier League following their relegation last season.
Freedman’s first game in charge of Bolton will be away to Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.
