According to The Daily Mail’s Adrian Kajumba and Dominic King, Everton have made a breakthrough in negotiations to sign Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi, and the BBC’s David Ornstein has also confirmed that news whilst revealing that a fee in the region of £35m – £40m had been agreed between the two clubs.
What’s the word, then?
Well, the tweet from King stated that there were no details as of yet regarding a fee for the Nigeria international, but the indications are that the Gunners attacker will move to the Toffees today – Ornstein has since revealed the financial details.
It had previously been reported by 90min that the north Londoners would allow the 23-year-old to move to Goodison Park if the Merseysiders submitted an offer of £38m, so one would assume that it is this sum that has been met given the latest news.
Iwobi scored three goals for the Gunners last term and recorded six assists in the league, whilst also netting a superb volley in the Europa League final against London rivals Chelsea.
Zaha alternative found
The Athletic had reported earlier in the day that alternatives were being lined up as Everton’s hopes of landing Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha were fading.
The Ivorian’s transfer request didn’t have the desired effect in getting him his much wanted move away from Selhurst Park, and it appears that the Toffees haven’t wasted any time in moving away from the situation and looking elsewhere.
Zaha was sent home from training by Roy Hodgson today as he wasn’t in the right frame of mind, and the 26-year-old now looks set to stay at Selhurst Park for the upcoming campaign.

Marcel Brands has moved swiftly to ensure that his side aren’t left empty handed, and his show of initiative to line up alternatives and make significant headway in securing them should be commended.
