da dobrowin： The Canaries have made a quiet start to their returning Premier League campaign, but their squad and budget on FM16 makes them an interesting prospect.
Nathan Redmond is undoubtedly crucial to any success you might have, whilst the rest of the squad could do with some quality additions to make sure you can stay in the Premier League, and keep your job!
What you start with…
Due to the frugal nature of Norwich’s summer, the board are willing to give you quite a generous budget of over £11 million in your first summer.
You are unlikely to raise too much through sales unfortunately, but the squad should be okay once you’ve invested that money sensibly.
What’s expected…
Premier League: Typically, the board are happy for you to simple avoid relegation, even if its by goal difference on the final day of the season!
FA Cup: Making it to the fifth round should be enough for the board to stay off your case about this cup.
Capital One Cup: As ever, the Capital One Cup takes a back seat if you manage to reach your other goals.
Three to Buy…
Josh Vela – Bolton’s youngster is ready to make the step up to the Premier League and Norwich seems to be an ideal destination for Vela. He can cover at right-back if needed, despite being a central midfielder by trade, and has a nicely rounded game to make him a tidy addition to any bottom-half PL squad.
Cauley Woodrow – Woodrow proved to be a special signing in FM15 and the latest game is no different. The Fulham star can play with his back to goal if needed and, luckily, still has the pace to run beyond the defensive line. Woodrow’s finishing will see him take the chances that Redmond creates and he feeds off crosses into the box.
James Tomkins – With the addition of Ogbonna, along with Winston Reid’s new contract, the centre-back position is heavily populated at West Ham. Tomkins, therefore, should be available for a slightly cut price and would slot perfectly into the Norwich back line.
The Hammer has heading and marking attributes that will stand out in your Norwich squad and should help to limit the damage done to your own goal.
Three to Sell
Russell Martin – With Bassong as your first choice centre-back, additions are needed in defence and Martin is already surplus to requirements. Plenty of experienced centre-halves are available for cut fees at the start of your save and a move for Ron Vlaar in January would be a significant upgrade.
Kyle Lafferty – Simply, Lafferty is not up to standards. He has just returned from a loan spell in Turkey, but is not close to the level required to keep your side in the top flight and signing a new striker must be a priority. Jerome offers far more than Lafferty, and even he is probably not good enough.
Martin Olsson – Despite his ability going forward, Olsson’s concentration rating really lets him down defensively. His pace is his saving grace at the beginning of your save, but it is probably worth cashing in on the Swede as soon as you can and upgrading to a left-back who offers better security. A bad injury will see Olsson’s pace decline and your squad will be left very short.
Youngsters…
Josh Murphy – Both Murphy’s feature on this list of youngsters to watch, but both have been FM stars for several editions of the game now. Within a few seasons, and maybe after a few loans, Josh and Jacob Murphy should be integral to your attacking shape and could form quite an attacking trio with Nathan Redmond.
Jacob Murphy – Much like his brother, Jacob Murphy should be in the England squad within a few seasons. There are minor differences between the two as footballers and you should be looking to use Jacob from the right and Josh from the left, perhaps something to trial in pre-season.
Nathan Redmond – Redmond is only just young enough to still be classified as a ‘youngster’ but Norwich’s star man still has plenty of improving to do throughout your save. His dangerous pace will make him a threat however much pressure you are under, and he has the dribbling skill to cause damage even from the most innocuous of positions. The key to Redmond’s success will be keeping hold of him when bigger clubs come calling.
