da bwin： Whilst the majority of Premier League players have been linking up with their respective national sides, their club managers have been working hard to put all the pieces of the puzzle together to set the sides up for the rest of the season.
This season looks set to be one of the most exciting in Premier League history. Many of the so called smaller sides have made some wonderful acquisitions over the summer, making everything a lot more competitive.
Yohan Cabaye to Crystal Palace and Andre Ayew to Swansea City are just two of the many coups we have seen this summer. Both sides have started the season brightly and look potential threats to the standard top six sides.
This season has all the ingredients to surprise us all, but here are four predictions for the rest of the season…
Harry Kane will flop
Last season the Spurs striker was the surprise superstar of the Premier League, he couldn’t do anything wrong.
Kane finished as the highest scoring English player with 21 league goals, and was drawing plaudits from all angles.
However, it is appearing more and more likely that last year’s incredible performances were a massive fluke and the player is going to fail to live up to all the hype this year.
The England international was an unknown quantity last season, defenders didn’t know what to expect from the 22-year-old, but now Premier league defenders can draw on their experiences from last year and prepare themselves to deal with the attacker.
His story is similar to that of Michu, who was not an exceptionally gifted footballer, but when he first arrived on the scene he took the league by storm. Defenders didn’t know what to do with him and he always seemed to be in the right place at the right time.
However, he flopped the year after and with the amount of young English talents ruined by the overwhelming pressure they face, it is easy to see Kane going the same way.
Swansea will qualify for Europe
The Swans look a force to be reckoned with in the early stages of the season. Gary Monk has worked extremely hard to build a solid squad that have mastered the art of attractive counter attacking football.
The Welsh side have made several impressive performances including drawing to champions Chelsea and an impressive victory over Manchester United.
Monk pulled off a real coup in the summer with the addition of Ghana international Andre Ayew, and he has settled in brilliantly.
The key to their success was that Monk did all his transfer business early, which has allowed him to get his new signings settled and the team working well as a unit. They look organised and like they have been playing together for a long time.
Ashley Williams has been a rock at the back and with the attacking threats of Ayew, Sigurdsson, Gomis and Montero, you can even see the Swans making a push for the top four this season.
Manchester City will win the title
To the surprise of many Man City have started the season in fantastic style. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are yet to even concede a goal and have already built up an eight point gap between themselves and main rivals Chelsea.
Many were tipping Pellegrini’s team to miss out on the top four this campaign after selling a number of first teamers, including James Milner and Edin Dzeko. How wrong they were.
David Silva and Sergio Aguero seem to be getting better and better every week, and now with the additions of Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, their side is looking remarkably strong.
Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany have also massively improved on last season’s poor performances.
Providing these stars can remain injury free, in particular Aguero, who has had his problems over recent years. Then you can’t see anyone coming close to the Manchester side.
Watford will be relegated
It has been a summer of change at Vicarage Road. Not only have the Hornets bought in a new manager in Quique Sanchez Flores, but there have been 15 new additions to the playing staff.
Flores has done the worst possible thing by making so many signings, and it will take months for the side to settle and develop that close relationship needed to be a successful side.
Not only will the players have to adapt to new tactics, but they all need to learn how all their team mates play, and what their strengths and weaknesses are. It takes valuable time that they simply just dont have.
It is clear to see from Tottenham after Gareth Bale’s departure and Liverpool’s struggles after selling Luis Suarez that spending sprees don’t work. It is all about quality, not quantity.
On the pitch, Watford’s main issue is that they just can’t seem to score goals. Troy Deeney is the man leading the attack for the Hornets, but he has been kept quiet so far and seems to be struggling compared to life in the Championship.
Watford will give it a good go, but they just don’t look as strong as many of their rivals.
