da bwin: Leeds United have signed Barcelona academy players Kun Temenuzhkov and Oriol Rey, according to Bulgarian media outlet Novsport.
What’s the word?
da roleta: Ian Bravo’s changes to the Leeds youth system seem to be continuing with the arrivals of the pair from Barcelona.
Novsport claim that Temenuzhkov has terminated his contract with the Spanish giants in order to move to the Championship outfit.
It is believed that the 17-year-old’s teammate Rey has joined him at Elland Road by signing a two-year contract.
They will be the latest additions to the academy that have come from Spain’s elite following Moroccan attacker Ousama Siddiki, who joined from Real Madrid.
Spanish starlets Alejandro Machuca, Adrian Balboa and Madger Gomes are also new faces in the Leeds setup.
Is this a sign of progression?
Understandably, all English clubs will try to bring through local talent, but that is not always possible.
For Leeds to recruit promising players from Europe, in particular huge clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid, can only signify a step in the right direction.
There is a feeling that the Whites are building themselves up again following the tumultuous reign of former owner Massimo Cellino.
Now that Andrea Radrizzani has taken full control of the club, the future looks brighter.
There are still question marks over whether Thomas Christiansen is a good replacement for Garry Monk, but the club have given him money to spend in this transfer window.
In addition, Radrizzani kept his promise to buy back Elland Road, so with developments also being made in the academy, the structure of Leeds is looking a lot more secure.
