da bet nacional: Many Liverpool fans have been reacting on social media after Sadio Mane joked that he would dive again if it meant the Reds were awarded a penalty.
da bet esporte: Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola had accused the forward of exaggerating contact to win a spot kick against Aston Villa at the start of the month, when Mane was booked for going to ground too easily.
Guardiola also commented on a disputed penalty awarded to Liverpool late on in stoppage-time against Leicester City last month, when Marc Albrighton was deemed to have brought Mane down inside the Foxes’ box.
The Spaniard has since backtracked somewhat, claiming he did not intend to suggest the 27-year-old is a diver, but rather wanted to praise Liverpool for frequently being able to dig deep and come up with late winning efforts.
Mane, unaware of Guardiola’s follow up comments, was not distracted by the suggestion that he is a diver, though, and has remarked that he would go to ground again should he feel any contact inside the area.
“If the ‘dive’ will give me a penalty then I will do it! Why not? But what Jurgen said is correct. I do not dive,” Mane said, via quotes by Sky Sports.
“There was contact [in the incident with Aston Villa’s Frederic Guilbert] for sure. Maybe it was not a penalty and he didn’t give it, and he gave me a yellow card. To be honest, I don’t have any problem about it.
“It’s what I want to keep doing. If I get a penalty, yeah it’s a penalty. If no penalty, no penalty, but [that] will never change the way I’m playing or the way I’m doing my things.
“I think it’s a bit clever from him [Guardiola] to get the attention of the referee, but I will just play my football like I’m always doing. I don’t pay attention to what he’s saying because it’s part of football.”
Liverpool host Manchester City on Sunday looking to forge a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League standings, while the Sky Blues will be striving for their first league win at Anfield since 2003.
