da bet sport: Liverpool may be leading the way this season at the top of the Premier League, but they must not rest on their laurels. With the title all but sewn up – they currently have a 22-point lead at the top of the table with just 13 matches left to play – the board can now look ahead towards next season and the inevitable defence of their first top-tier title in 30 years.
No clues: Can you name the season these iconic Liverpool images belong to?
They have already been linked with Jadon Sancho and Kylian Mbappe in recent months, and now it seems they are targetting centre-back Ruben Dias as well. The 22-year-old currently plays for Benfica, with Manchester City and Tottenham also said to be interested.
This link has got the Liverpool fans talking, and they don’t seem convinced. Many do not believe it to be true at all.
Given the amount of players that the Reds are often linked with, you can understand why some may be a bit sceptical.
Some supporters, meanwhile, don’t believe they need another centre-back.
With Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez starring at the heart of the back four – they have kept eight clean sheets in their last nine matches in the top flight – and the likes of Ki-Jana Hoever and Sepp van den Berg coming through, a new centre-back does not look like a necessity.
Others have questioned the potential price tag.
It does seem an awfully high price – the actual fee would be £84.4m if they would need to match the €100m release clause – for a player that would unlikely be one of Jurgen Klopp’s first names on the teamsheet.
And one fan believes the Reds need reinforcements in other areas first.
With Roberto Firmino leading the line, the centre-forward role appears to be locked down. A creative midfielder may not go amiss, but that may mean changing their way of playing – it remains to be seen whether that would be something Klopp would want to do.
Elsewhere, Liverpool are ready to give this youngster a bumper new contract.
