da bwin: Sheffield United’s summer priority is a big one, but it should already be clear to Steve Bettis and the key officials at Bramall Lane.
da stake casino: No matter whether the Blades achieve the remarkable dream of Champions League football, they will need a new goalkeeper.
Dean Henderson has been a breath of fresh air under Chris Wilder, keeping over 20 clean sheets in the Championship last season and earning the second-most (9) of any Premier League stopper in 2019/20.
To say he has been key in United’s rise through the leagues would be an understatement.
However, he is only on loan. It’s an unfortunate situation but even if they have desires of attempting to turn his temporary deal into a permanent one, it’s not looking too hopeful.
Henderson has shown a desire to challenge David de Gea for the number one spot at Manchester United (Kelly and Wrighty show, via The Daily Mail) and judging by his showings this season, it’s not as difficult a task as one might imagine.
Further comments from journalist Richard Sutcliffe also hands bad news to Wilder’s men:
“No option to buy, Ben. Will return to Old Trafford at the end of the season. Decision as to what happens next probably belongs to Henderson.
“My hunch is he will stay at OT and challenge De Gea, believing he can be first choice. Blades will realise this and have one eye on next summer and a new first choice keeper. Chris Wilder got a bit frustrated last summer when waiting for the Henderson deal to go through – even then suggesting he had a back-up signing lined up in case the deal didn’t happen.”
If Wilder got annoyed last summer, then the same could very much happen in 2020. After all, they’re far less likely to keep Henderson now than they were over half a year ago.
Henderson has been touted for an England place this season ahead of Jordan Pickford and should he finally get his chance, it would increase the likelihood of staying in Manchester.
With that in mind, Bettis must be thinking of possible successors for the current number one at Bramall Lane.
Where is he from?! Can you name which obscure countries these famous players have represented?
Finding a more pedigreed forward who can score goals on a regular basis would also be a good idea but snapping up a reliable stopper should be at the very top of the list.
After all, Wilder lacks men at his disposal beyond Henderson. Michael Verrips and Simon Moore are the back-up options but have only played four times between them this term.
Thus, the priority couldn’t be clearer. Bettis and Wilder need a new ‘keeper.
In other Blades news, Chris Wilder’s NIGHTMARE trend looks like it could soon end…
