da aposte e ganhe: According to TEAMtalk, Sheffield Wednesday have told striker Jordan Rhodes that he is surplus to requirements at Hillsborough with Friday’s deadline quickly looming.
What’s the word?
da apostebet: It is claimed that Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers are considering a move for their former frontman as a result of such news with Garry Monk looking to part ways with the club’s record signing.
Rhodes is ‘free’ to leave the club this month as long as his hefty wage demands are met – this presumably hints towards a loan move with the 29-year-old’s contract due to expire in the summer of 2021.
The Star believe the Scotland international is on approximately £40k-per-week, which would make him comfortably the highest earner in the Owls squad as Capology suggests Steven Fletcher and Keiren Westwood are paid £10k less a week.

You’d imagine that the financial packet involved in any deal is going to either be the stumbling block or integral to another club’s decision, so there’s a strong possibility that Rhodes sees the season out in south Yorkshire.

However, if Blackburn’s interest proves true, then they should take everything they can for the time being as even 50-60% of his wages being paid elsewhere would help smooth a move for Crystal Palace striker Connor Wickham, who is believed to be a key target for Monk.
It’s also been reported by The Sun’s Alan Nixon that Wigan Athletic have offered £500k to sign the Wednesday forward.
The interest is surely there, but the Owls may need to simply cut their losses as his record at Hillsborough has hardly increased his value over the past three years.
Who the heck is that?! Can you name all of these obscure Sheffield Wednesday players…
Rhodes was signed by Carlos Carvalhal in 2017 and has gone on to score 13 goals in 68 appearances, and was even sent out on loan to Championship winners Norwich City last season.
He’s clearly not fancied by Monk, so it would be wise to find a solution that suits all involved even if it means the club lose out financially – it’s probably worse for them to allow someone on £40k-per-week to sit on the fringes.
And in other news, SWFC may have the wrong stance amidst Steven Fletcher’s injury woes…
