da dobrowin: [ad_pod ]It’s no secret that Everton have some issues at right-back. Seamus Coleman is visibly declining and has struggled to replicate his exquisite form of years gone by – this could be down to his wince-inducing leg break suffered back in 2017 whilst on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.Coleman, now 30 years of age, has made 18 Premier League starts out of a possible 23 so far this season, but has scored just one goal and accumulated a Whoscored average rating of 6.71.Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin may be out for the season but it’s given him a chance to show off his new accesory. Check out the video below to see for yourself…The Toffees invested heavily in freshening up their backline during the summer with big-money moves for Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne and Jordan Pickford, all of whom cost a combined total of around £70m (as per BBC Sport).Having spent that much on their defence already, the Merseysiders could continue the revamp of their back four by ditching Coleman for a fresh face. Football FanCast outline four suggestions for who could replace the Irishman.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
The Crystal Palace academy graduate is gaining much attention. Wan-Bissaka only made his debut against Tottenham in early 2018, but he has since risen to be one of the most highly-rated young full-backs in the Premier League.
Impressively, the 21-year-old has recorded the third most tackles in the Premier League, and according to Whoscored, has made more tackles and interceptions combined (133) than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
He will only get better but Crystal Palace will likely be incredibly reluctant to sell, so Everton better put their hands in their pockets for this one.
Jonjoe Kenny
In the five Premier League games that Coleman hasn’t started for the Toffees this season, 21-year-old Jonjoe Kenny has deputised for him, and has done quite well.
He has an assist to his name, and has quietly gone about his business under Marco Silva this season. Everton could have the heir to Coleman’s throne right under their noses, and if they are struggling to find funds for a shiny new right-back, the academy graduate is a solid option in that position.
Kyle Walker-Peters
The Tottenham academy graduate signed a contract extension with the club back in December (as per the BBC), which will keep him in north London until at least 2023. However, he should definitely be thinking about a move away, as his development has been slowed by his bit-part role in the team.
21-year-old Walker-Peters is third choice in Mauricio Pochettino’s pecking order behind Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier, and doesn’t look likely to dislodge either of them in the near future. Perhaps a loan move with an option to buy would be a good deal for Everton.
Djibril SidibeÂ
Here’s a right-back who would arrive at Goodison Park with some pedigree – Monaco’s Djibril Sidibe. The 18-cap France international is a very good option out on the right hand side of defence, but may not see a future with the Ligue 1 side given their lowly position in the league table.
The club sit 19th and just one place off bottom, so Sidibe – who is an excellent player both in attack and defence – may want out of the circus act currently going on. The 26-year-old is well-proven and well-known outside of Ligue 1 though, so Everton may have to fight off some competition for his signature should Sidibe look to move.
